The afternoon is left open to explore the bay more closely. You may choose to kayak through quiet lagoons, drift past hidden corners by small boat, or simply remain on board, taking in the stillness of the surroundings.

Overnight in Banyan Tree Lang Co, Hue

Following breakfast, set off on a guided tour to visit the imperial heritage of Hue. Begin at the expansive Hue Imperial Citadel, a vast complex that unfolds in three layers. The outer Capital Citadel once served as the defensive stronghold of the city, enclosed by thick walls and a wide moat. Within it lies the Royal Citadel, where grand ceremonial halls and courtyards were used for official functions and royal audiences. At the heart of the complex, the more secluded Forbidden Citadel was reserved for the emperor’s private life, its remaining structures offering a quieter, more intimate glimpse into the past.

Continue to Thien Mu Pagoda, set on a gentle hill overlooking the Perfume River, its seven-tiered tower standing as one of the city’s most recognizable landmarks. A visit to Dong Ba Market provides a contrast to the morning’s historical setting, where the pace shifts to the everyday life of the city. 

After lunch, travel south to Hoi An, following a scenic coastal route. On arrival, check in to your hotel and enjoy the rest of the day at leisure.

A short drive from Hoi An leads into the waterways of Cam Thanh Coconut Village. From here, continue by traditional basket boat through narrow channels lined with water coconut palms, where daily life unfolds at a quiet, steady pace. 

Back in Hoi An Ancient Town, explore on foot through a network of narrow streets and preserved merchant houses. Along the way, stop at the iconic Japanese Covered Bridge, visit Phung Hung Ancient House with its blend of architectural influences, and step into Fujian Assembly Hall, known for its ornate details and cultural significance within the town’s trading history. 

The rest of the day remains free, giving you time to revisit your favorite corners or simply enjoy the town at your own rhythm.

Overnight in Hoi An

From Hoi An, Set out for My Son Sanctuary, a UNESCO World Heritage Site set in a lush valley surrounded by low hills. Once the spiritual center of the Champa Kingdom, the site is defined by clusters of red-brick towers and sanctuaries, where intricate carvings and weathered details reflect centuries of history. 

Continue to Da Nang. At the Marble Mountains, a series of limestone hills rises from the surrounding plain, home to caves, hidden shrines, and elevated viewpoints overlooking the coast.

The route then follows the curve of the Son Tra Peninsula, where forested slopes meet the sea. Here, visit Linh Ung Pagoda, known for its towering Lady Buddha statue which is the tallest in Vietnam, overlooking the bay and offering sweeping views of the coastline below. 

The day concludes at the Cham Museum, where a refined collection of Cham sculptures provides deeper context to the civilization first encountered at My Son earlier in the day.
