My Tho – Ben Tre – 1 Day Tour

Your guide and driver will pick you up from your hotel in the center of Ho Chi Minh City at around 7:30am to travel toward the Mekong Delta. As you leave the bustling streets behind, the landscape opens into vast carpets of emerald-green rice fields dotted with water buffalo and farming villages.   

Your first destination is the Vinh Trang Pagoda, a peaceful sanctuary known for its impressive architecture that harmoniously combines Vietnamese, Khmer, and Chinese influences. Wander through the tranquil gardens, admire the intricate details of its statues, and take in the serene atmosphere of this spiritual site.   

Next, continue on to My Tho, where you’ll board a boat for a leisurely cruise along the Mekong River. Enjoy the gentle breeze as you glide past Dragon, Phoenix, Unicorn, and Tortoise Islets, each with its own local legend. The scenes along the river offer a beautiful glimpse of daily life in the delta—fishermen casting nets, boats piled high with produce, and lush fruit gardens lining the banks.   

Switch to a traditional sampan and drift quietly through narrow waterways shaded by arches of coconut palms. Upon reaching the riverside village, visit local families, taste fresh seasonal fruits, sip honey tea and homemade rice wine, and enjoy a short folk music performance by the villagers.   

A homestyle lunch will be served at a local restaurant, featuring regional specialties (vegetarian options available). Afterward, travel deeper into Ben Tre Province, often called the “Kingdom of Coconuts.” Visit a small workshop to see how local households turn coconuts into candies, rice paper, and other traditional treats. Then, unwind in a hammock or take a leisurely bike ride around the village.   

As afternoon turns to evening, begin your journey back to Ho Chi Minh City, arriving around 5:00pm, with your heart full of the sights, sounds, and flavors of the Mekong Delta.
