Itinerary

When you land at Luang Prabang International Airport, a transfer will be arranged to drive you to your hotel for check in. (Early check in is subject to availability). The rest of the day is free for you to explore this UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Overnight in Luang Prabang

Meals: none

After breakfast, begin your discovery of Luang Prabang with a visit to the Royal Palace Museum, constructed in 1904 during the French colonial period for King Sisavang Vong and his family. You’ll then set off on a leisurely cruise upstream on the Mekong River, soaking the tranquil scenery before reaching the Pak Ou Caves – two sacred caverns filled with thousands of Buddha statues of varying shapes and sizes, creating an atmosphere both solemn and deeply spiritual. For the people of Luang Prabang, this site has long been a sacred place of worship and devotion.

On the return trip, stop by Ban Xanghai Village to see how locals produce traditional Lao rice wine. Back in town, visit the elegant Wat Sene and the exquisite Wat Xieng Thong, an architectural masterpiece adorned with detailed mosaics and a shimmering “Tree of Life” mural.

Continue to Heuan Chan Heritage House, a beautifully restored 19th-century mansion that showcases Lao traditions through exhibits, crafts, and family stories. Enjoy a cup of authentic Lao coffee or tea before heading to Wat Prabath for a serene sunset view over the city.

End your day exploring the Night Market, where you can browse an array of handmade textiles crafted by local artisans and hill tribes.

Overnight in Luang Prabang.

Meals: breakfast

Optional: Visit the Traditional Arts & Ethnology Center to learn more about Laos’ diverse ethnic cultures (closed on Mondays).

Rise early to witness one of Laos’s most revered traditions — the morning alms-giving ceremony, a practice dating back to the 14th century. As dawn breaks, hundreds of saffron-robed monks walk through the streets to receive offerings from locals in silent reverence.

Continue to the nearby morning market, where villagers trade fresh produce, fish, and poultry in a lively yet humble setting. After breakfast, climb the 329 steps up Mount Phousi for a panoramic view of Luang Prabang and the Mekong River.

Next, drive to the breathtaking Kuang Si Waterfall — the largest in the region — cascading through three tiers into turquoise pools perfect for swimming or relaxing. You may also visit Ban Thapene village to explore hidden falls, and stop by the Bear Rescue Center, home to animals saved from poachers.

On the way back, visit Ock Pop Tok Living Crafts Center, a riverside workshop where local artisans create traditional Lao textiles — also an ideal spot to watch the sunset over the Mekong. End the day with a peaceful sunset cruise, admiring the golden light fading behind distant mountains.

Around 8:30 a.m., your guide will pick you up from your hotel lobby in Luang Prabang and take you to the Elephant Village Camp – a well-known sanctuary devoted to elephant care and conservation. Here, you’ll take part in hands-on activities such as feeding the elephants and visiting the Elephant Hospital and Museum. You’ll also learn how to become a mahout by communicating with these gentle giants.

From the camp, board a traditional Lao longboat to Tad Sae Waterfall, where you can swim in the clear turquoise pools or simply unwind by the water. Later, enjoy a buffet lunch at the camp’s riverside restaurant before heading back to Luang Prabang.

At around 1:00 p.m., you’ll be transferred to Luang Prabang International Airport for your onward flight.
