Step beyond Hanoi’s busy streets and discover the timeless beauty of Vietnam’s traditional craft villages. This Chuong Village & Quang Phu Cau Incense Village – 1 Day Tour takes you to Chuong Village, home of the iconic non la conical hat, and Quang Phu Cau, where thousands of colorful incense sticks create a breathtaking tapestry. Meet local artisans, try your hand at age-old crafts, and experience the warmth of rural life just outside the capital.
This morning, around 8:00am, leave the bustle of Hanoi behind and head into the peaceful countryside to explore two of northern Vietnam’s most picturesque craft villages.
On arrival at about 9:00am, you will first visit Quang Phu Cau Incense Village, renowned for its centuries-old incense-making tradition. As you step into the village, you’ll be surrounded by thousands of incense sticks drying in the sun, their red and pink hues forming a stunning mosaic - an eye-catching spectacle that’s become a favorite for photographers.
Visit the largest incense-making workshop to see artisans at work, shaping and dyeing each stick with practiced precision. Engage with the villagers and learn not only about the stories behind their century-old craft but also about the spiritual significance of incense in Vietnamese daily life and religious rituals. Do not forget to capture striking photos of your own.
Around 11:00, head to Chuong Conical Hat Village, known for its long-standing tradition of crafting conical hats or Nón Lá. Stroll leisurely through quiet village lanes where the sound of bamboo tapping fills the air as local artisans skillfully stitch and shape each hat by hand.
You will take part in a workshop run by a family to learn about the intricate techniques passed down through generations, and try your hand at crafting and decorating your own non la.
Then, sit down to a warm, home-cooked Vietnamese meal prepared with fresh, local ingredients — a simple yet heartwarming experience that captures the spirit of rural hospitality.
