Welcome to Luang Prabang—the ancient royal capital of the Lane Xang Kingdom, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for its tranquil beauty and golden-roofed temples. Upon arrival, your local guide and driver will meet you at the airport and take you to your hotel for check-in. Spend the rest of the day relaxing or wandering the quiet streets of this charming riverside town.

After breakfast, start the day at the Royal Palace Museum, once home to King Sisavang Vong and his family. Continue south for about an hour to reach Kuang Si Waterfall, one of Luang Prabang’s most breathtaking natural sites. Enjoy a refreshing dip in its turquoise pools, take a short walk to nearby Ban Thapene Village, and visit the Bear Rescue Center located at the site.
Return to the city and explore some of its most revered temples—Wat Sene, Wat Xieng Thong, with its intricate “Tree of Life” mosaic, and the ancient Wat Visoun with its distinctive stupa. Later, head to Wat Prabath to watch the sunset over the Mekong River before strolling through the Night Market, where handmade textiles and crafts by ethnic artisans fill the lantern-lit stalls.

Depart after breakfast for Ban Lae Sivilay, a small Lao-Hmong village resting on the banks of the Nam Xuang River. Surrounded by lush orchards, the community offers a glimpse into authentic rural life. Stroll through fruit gardens filled with oranges, pineapples, and rambutan, then hop aboard a canoe for a gentle ride along the river to see daily life unfold on the water.
In the afternoon, continue by road to Nong Khiaw, a peaceful riverside village set against a dramatic backdrop of limestone mountains and dense jungle. Upon arrival, check in to your hotel and unwind by the river.

This morning, board a local boat upstream to Muang Ngoi, a small town accessible only by river. En route, stop at Ban Sop Jam, a weaving village known for its exquisite handwoven cotton and silk. Continue to Muang Ngoi and take a leisurely trek through rice paddies and limestone cliffs to a nearby cave once used as a shelter during wartime.
After the hike, enjoy some downtime with a coffee or cold drink before cruising back down the Nam Ou River. Watch as the sun sets over the karst peaks—an unforgettable view as you approach Nong Khiaw at dusk.

After breakfast, visit Pathok Cave, once a hiding place during the war, then return to Luang Prabang by road. En route, cross the Mekong River to visit the Pak Ou Caves—two limestone grottoes filled with thousands of Buddha statues left by pilgrims over the centuries. Stop by Ban Xang Hai, where locals produce traditional rice wine, and Ban Xang Khong, known for handmade silk and Saa paper crafts.
Later in the day, transfer to the station for your express train to Vientiane (19:22–21:08). Upon arrival, meet your driver and transfer to your hotel for check-in.

Enjoy breakfast at your hotel, then begin your exploration of Laos’ laid-back capital. Visit the bustling Thong Khan Kham Market, where locals shop for everything from fresh produce to household goods. Continue to Wat Sisaket, the oldest surviving temple in the city, and Wat Prakeo, once home to the Emerald Buddha.
Next, stop by the That Luang Stupa, Laos’ most sacred monument, and admire the grand Patuxay Monument, often called Vientiane’s own Arc de Triomphe. Afterward, you’ll be transferred to the airport for your onward flight.
